A Luxe Damask Christmas Print

Hello! For my first post here I share this all over Damask print I did last week at work for Christmas season!

This was quite fun! Since I design primarily for the commercial market, I tend to try incorporating classical styles into my design, like a damask print. Here I use classic baroque style swirls with the important Christmas motifs, but I had to work fast as our deadline for Christmas was already here.

So in a nutshell quickly, what I did is to find images of the elements online, trace the motifs in black and white on my iPad, rearrange the motifs for the half damask, duplicate flip it over to check the main print, and then go back to fill in any spots I felt looked too empty. Then I used Adobe Illustrator to trace the main print (image trace function in this case, then touching up with pencil tool) and then creating the final repeat for the print. Depending on how fine/precise the print needs to be for the use case, I might have taken a lot longer to complete this, but all in all this print took me about a full day at work.

Isn’t it satisfying to be done with something so fast? I wish I could work this fast everyday!
